Disclosure after disclosure shows the president buying corporate and municipal debt, some of it in sectors his administration is deregulating or investing in.
Federal officials must report securities trades in broad dollar ranges. Reuters reported that Trump made more than 600 purchases and bought more than $100 million in bonds in the first months after his January 2025 inauguration.
Filings covering late August to early October 2025 showed at least $82 million in purchases, with a possible maximum above $337 million, including bonds of large banks as financial rules were loosened and Intel bonds after the U.S. government took a stake in Intel. Later reports added Netflix, UnitedHealth, Boeing, Meta and Broadcom debt, and a March 2026 filing listed about 175 more transactions worth at least $51 million.
Trump's annual disclosure filed in June 2025 reported more than $600 million in income from cryptocurrency, golf properties, licensing and other ventures, and showed that income from his businesses still ultimately flows to him.
